Our Mission

To promote the interests of AmCham members in Singapore and the region by providing advocacy, business information and networking opportunities.

Our History

In 1917, a small group of businessmen in Singapore formed the American Association, which served the interests of American business well over the subsequent 50 years, including two world wars, until the late 1960s.

By the late 1960s, U.S. investments in Singapore had grown substantially. Oil exploration and refinery companies, heavy industrial manufacturers and financial institutions made up the majority of American businesses in Singapore. As a result of the growth, it was determined that a separate organization was needed to serve the interests of American business.

In December 1973, the American Business Council was registered as a trade society and employer’s group. By the end of 1974, membership had increased to 226 members, and ABC had joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
