About AmCham Okinawa

The American Chamber of Commerce in Okinawa (ACCO) is a non-profit organization made up of over 100 members from the American and Okinawan business community. Although many Americans began their businesses here in l945, it wasn’t until 1953 that ACCO was founded, and a charter granted by the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America.

The Purpose of ACCO is to further the development of commerce
and trade between the United States and Okinawa, to promote and undertake projects and other measures designed to benefit and protect American business interests in general, to represent and effectively express the opinions of the American business community in Okinawa, to collect, evaluate, and disseminate statistical, educational and other pertinent information concerning trade and commerce among members and other interested parties, and to establish liaisons with other organizations sharing mutual interests.

The strength of the ACCO lies in its membership and its committees, which are designed to meet the growing needs and concerns of the American and Okinawan business community. Maintaining close ties with the U.S. Consulate General in Okinawa and the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo helps to support our efforts. Close ties to the Okinawan and Japanese governments, plus established contacts in various U.S. government agencies in Washington makes us a stronger organization. Working together is the key to the future. Join us.
