About AmCham Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Chapter

AmCham Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter has over 320 member and associate companies with nearly 600 representatives in Vietnam’s commercial and industrial center, which represents over one-third of the Vietnam’s GDP, and this share is expected to increase to 40 percent by 2010.

AmCham welcomes American and international firms whose business relations with the United States and/or U.S. firms are such that membership would help achieve our objectives, which are:

  • Promote the development of trade and investment between the United States and Vietnam.
  • Provide a forum where American businesses in Vietnam can identify and discuss common interests regarding commercial activities in Vietnam
  • Work with organizations in Vietnam on matters of mutual interest
  • Maintain relations with chambers of commerce in the United States and other chambers of commerce or commercial organizations

AmCham Vietnam was originally established in 1967, and was re-established on March 10, 1994 as an informal business association, just one month after President Clinton lifted the trade embargo in February 1994. AmCham Vietnam became an Organization Member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1996, of APCAC in 1997, and, on September 19, 1998, AmCham Vietnam was officially licensed by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City under the provisions of The Degree of the Government Promulgating the Regulations on the Establishment of Foreign Business Association in Vietnam, Decree No. 8/1998/ND-CP, 22 Jan 98.
